My dream began with the aroma of coffee from home. As a child, my favorite place was the coffee shop my grandfather owned. Back then, I didn't understand what specialty coffee was; I only knew that whenever my family gathered together, smelling the aroma of coffee, the feeling was warm and comforting. My grandfather was a successful businessman, but after my grandmother passed away, he resolutely decided to close his company and return to his hometown to open a coffee shop—not to make money, but to give my family a chance to reconnect. He often said, "There are no shortcuts to success, but there are definitely tricks. A solid foundation and mastering the tricks are the keys to learning quickly and doing things steadily." This statement became my philosophy for learning and teaching. Thus began my journey of self-study and practice. I began to study intensely, researching on my own, seeking advice everywhere, and visiting over 80 coffee shops across Taiwan; participating in competitions, taking certification exams, obtaining the SCA international barista certification, and starting to teach. Later, I began giving corporate training and university lectures, and more and more students asked me, "I want to learn about coffee, but I don't know where to start." The birth of Shuo Coffee revealed that many people have passion, but lack a suitable starting point. This is why I founded Shuo Coffee. The character "Shuo" originally meant metal smelting, symbolizing the refinement of skills and the accumulation of taste. It also represents the unwavering commitment to oneself, like gold, radiating its own light. The refinement of skills and the accumulation of taste also extend to the journey of personal growth—from liking to loving, from learning to becoming a profession. It's an extension of lifestyle: a cup of coffee and a piece of cake. Through our interactions with our students, I discovered that "appreciating coffee" is never a solitary experience; it always connects to space, atmosphere, and that delicate sense of life. Therefore, we also began offering handmade desserts and customized cakes. We insist on using top-quality ingredients, reducing the sugar in every recipe by 80%, just to present the purest flavor layers of the ingredients. It's not just about pairing with coffee; we want to extend this attention to detail to the dining table and everyday life. We want every dessert our customers receive to bring warmth and a touch of happy memory.
